Individual protocols may be obtained by contacting the Australian Coordinating Centre or the New Zealand Coordinating Centre.

interRAI protocols are copyright and permission to use these tools must be obtained from interRAI. For research and development purposes in Australia, approval may be obtained from the interRAI Australia Coordinating Centre. For research and development purposes in New Zealand, approval may be obtained from the New Zealand Coordinating Centre.
For ongoing use, a formal agreement must be made with interRAI central office. This can be facilitated through the Australian Centre.

These arrangements have been established for several reasons:
  • To prevent modification of the instruments without interRAI approval, therefore assuring that tested instruments are used and a common instrument is used throughout Australia, New Zealand, and abroad.
  • To underpin arrangements for data pooling to support development in Australia, New Zealand, and abroad.

To encourage the adoption of its assessment systems throughout the world, it is interRAI policy to not charge royalties for non-commercial use of the instruments, even though formal agreements must be obtained. In some instances, royalties are sought from publishers of manuals and software vendors.

interRAI is a not-for-profit organisation.
